If you’ve never heard of the Michelada, it is the Mexican take on a Bloody Mary, and is one of the most popular Mexican beer cocktails around the globe.

Michelada
(Adapted from recipe by www.foxvalleyfoodie.com)
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups beer (an authentic Mexican beer is best, such as Corona, Modela, Indio or Bohemia)
1 1/2 cups clamato juice*
1/4 cup lime juice (approcimately 2 limes)
2 tsp worchestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
fresh ground pepper
ice
salt for rim
Instructions
- Add all ingredients except for salt into a large pot or jug, and stir to combine.
- Wet rims of the glasses and dip in salt.
- Pour micheladas into glasses, dust with fresh ground pepper, garnish with a lime slice if desired, and enjoy.
* Clamato juice is a brand of tomato juice drink that is made up of tomato juice and sugar, and is flavoured with spices and clam juice. If you can’t find this brand, or similar, in your local store, here is a recipe for a Clamato substitute.
