The wheat flour tortilla is probably best known however, because of its versatility and growing popularity. In Mexico however, the word “tortilla” is still used to refer to the corn tortilla made of maize.

Whole wheat also means that the bran, the germ, and the endosperm of the wheat kernel have all been left intact. The bread is made up entirely of wheat kernels. It is healthier because of the fibre and protein remaining in the wheat.
