When it comes to helping promote sport in the community, Aztec Mexican Products and Liquor is always ready to lend a hand. Aztec proudly sponsors AFI Mexico, part of the Australian Football International group.
They may be one of the best distributors of authentic Mexican food products in the country, but their enthusiasm for Mexico – and Australia – does not stop there. Supporting both local and international endeavours is high on their list of priorities. As far as sport goes, one of Aztec’s biggest passions AFI Mexico.
Australian Football International is an organisation that represents Australian Rules Football on a global scale. In order to help expand the concept into other countries, they have developed a version of the sport called Footy 9s.
Footy 9s has nine players per side and can be played on all major types of football grounds – soccer, rugby and gridiron. There are both contact and non-contact variations. The role of Australian Football International is to bring this new adaptation of the game to the world stage.
AFI is divided into eight regions, including Asia, Europe, Middle East and Latin America. AFI Mexico is in the Latin America division. This arm of the group has some specific goals regarding the addition of Footy 9s into Mexico’s sporting arena.
They see the sport’s growth as an opportunity to enhance the lives of youth by bringing it to Mexican school sports curriculum at primary, secondary and university levels. They also want to make Footy 9s an official sport in Mexico, with both men’s and women’s teams competing against other countries.
